FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to own a piano to take lessons?
We prefer for all students studying piano to own one. If you do not have access to a piano, a full-sized (88 keys) weighted keyboard with pedals is sufficient. You must be able to practice outside of lessons each week.

I cannot start lessons at the start of the term. Can I register later on?
Yes, we can pro-rate you based on your start date and how many weeks are left in the term. Our fall and spring terms are 16 and 18 weeks long respectfully. Our summer term is 10 weeks, and students must enroll in a minimum of 6 weeks.

Do you rent instruments?
We do not rent instruments. If you need to rent, contact the following locations:

What happens if I have to miss a lesson? Is there a make-up? Do I get a refund?
If you cancel with your instructor with at least 24 hours notice, there's a good chance they can schedule a make-up with you. We have a week of make-up lessons built into the RCMS calendar. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice (same day as lesson), the instructor is not required to give you a make-up lesson. Refunds are only granted if a student must withdraw for verified medical reasons.

I'm not sure my child is ready for lessons. Are there trial lessons available?
We highly encourage signing up for a trial lesson before enrolling in a term. We want all students in the RCMS to find success and have fun! If lessons aren't for him/her - then we don't want you to waste your time and money.

Do you have tuition assistance for lessons and classes?
Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have a tuition assistance program. We do offer discounts for families who enroll more than 3 children.
