Local 13WHAM Meteorologist Scott Hetsko visited the senior nursing students to discuss his health issues with cardiomyopathy, his journey with a heart transplant, and the impact nurses continue to have on his life today.

Today, Roberts Wesleyan University joins communities across the nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honoring those who responded with courage and service. As a Christ-centered community, we pause to remember and pray: “God is our refuge and strength.” — Psalm 46:1 Among those who answered the call to serve was Roberts alumnus Khamkay “Kai” Chitaphong ’97, ’02, who joined The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Response efforts and served near Ground Zero, supporting first responders and families affected by the tragedy.

Twenty-five years later, Kai continues to reflect on that experience through prayer and gratitude. His story reminds us of the faith, compassion, and willingness to serve others that remain at the heart of the Roberts community. May we carry the memory of September 11 forward not only in our words, but in the way we live—with faith, compassion, courage, and a willingness to serve others. We remember. We pray. We will never forget.

We marked a historic moment at Roberts Wesleyan University as our newest students became the 100th incoming class to walk through the Roberts Arch. Originally a gift from the Class of 1926, the Arch has long symbolized the Roberts journey: students walk through it as they begin their faith-filled education and again at Commencement as they prepare to go into the world to work, lead, and serve. Our newest Redhawks are adding their own chapter to that tradition as they begin their Roberts story. Welcome to Roberts, Class of 2030. It's time to Learn to Live!
