MSW - Advanced Standing Option

Complete your M.S.W. in as few as 11 months

Students prepared with a bachelor's in social work (B.S.W.) can complete the MSW degree in less time through the Advanced Standing Option.

Once accepted into the M.S.W. program, students may bypass the foundational courses to pursue their desired concentration if the following criteria are met:

  • Demonstrate that the foundation knowledge, values, and skills provided at the BSW level have been sufficiently mastered, and
  • Successful completion* of three Advanced Standing courses (*students must average at least a B across these three courses, with only one B- allowed).

Additional courses are required through the Advanced Standing Course Sequence. The 38 credit course sequence can be completed in 11 months for students beginning in the summer term or 17 months for those starting in January.
