Non-degree Course Sequence

NOTE: THIS IS NOT A CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

Begin your journey to become a fully licensed Nursing Home Administrator in New York State (NYS) with this 5-course sequence offered completely online. Roberts Wesleyan College is one of the few colleges/universities in New York State to offer all five courses required by NYS Department of Health (DOH). Among other qualifications for licensure, applicants must also have a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution. NHA 5-Course Sequence (100% Online):

  1. NHA 450 – Nursing Home Administration (4crs / 6wks)
  2. NHA 380 – Health Care Financial Management (5crs / 8 wks)
  3. NHA 400 – Health Care Policy, Law & Ethics (4crs / 6 wks)
  4. SOC 300 NH - Gerontology (3crs / 5wks)
  5. NHA 410 – Human Resources in Health Care (3crs / 5wks) 

*Total credits earned = 19 credits / 30 weeks

The following Roberts graduate courses also satisfy NYS requirements for NHA licensure:

  • MHI 575 - Health IT, Policy, Regulation and Law (3crs) - no longer offered at Roberts
  • NSG 600 - Health Care Policy, Ethics, and Law (3crs) - available online or onsite (Graduate Nursing)

NOTE: Completion of these 5-courses does not result in a certificate, but rather satisfies NYSDOH "Qualification 3" toward becoming a Nursing Home Administrator. Program/Course Cost

  • Total cost for all (5) courses = $7,828 (19 credits)
  • Each course is available at $412 per credit hour, which is the current Pathway Program cost per credit hour. 

NOTE: Students taking the Nursing Home Administration non-degree courses as a sequence (separate from a degree program) are not eligible for Financial Aid (loans or grants).

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution.

Roberts Graduates Pursuing NHA Licensure

Roberts Health Administration, B.S. (BHA) graduates pursuing NHA licensure can continue on to complete the Health Administration, M.S. (MHA), which includes three of the five courses required by NYS:

  • MHA 580 - Health Care Financial Management (5crs / 8 wks)
  • MHA 600 - Health Policy, Ethics, and Law (4crs / 6 wks)
  • MHA 610 - Human Resources for Health Care Professionals (3crs / 5 wks)

If you already completed the MHA program, you only have two more courses to complete:

  • NHA 450 – Nursing Home Administration (4crs / 6wks)
  • SOC 300 NH - Gerontology (3crs / 5wks)
