The study of history offers one of the best avenues for the on-going understanding of the past - its people and cultures - and the present. The History Department focuses on European, American, and non-Western History, and one of its most important goals is to help students develop that rich and rewarding study of the human past, in all its complexities. As part of the core humanities/liberal arts offerings at the college, the Department also seeks to develop research and analytical skills needed to communicate informed conclusions about the past. Students will find the faculty to be caring and committed scholars and teachers, with more than fifty years of combined experience in the classroom.
