Veterans Benefits

Qualified Veterans and dependents generally receive military benefits from within the following Chapters: 30, 31, 33 (Post-9/11 GI BIll®), 35, 1606. In addition, Roberts Wesleyan University offers Yellow Ribbon funding to qualified individuals. A brief overview of each Chapter is provided below – click the title of each Chapter to link to the Veterans Affairs Website and see additional information regarding each benefit.

SPECIAL NOTE REGARDING YOUR BENEFITS: Roberts Wesleyan University reserves the right to reduce a student's Roberts funded financial aid (including merit aid) if the total of the student's grants and scholarship from all sources, including military, meets or exceeds the cost of tuition except where specifically addressed by regulation (i.e. PELL grant).

Chapter 30 – Montgomery GI BIll®

Benefit provides a monthly educational assistance allowance for up to 36 months.

NOTE: Eligible Servicemembers usually have 10 years to use MGIB benefits

Chapter 31 - Vocational Rehabilitation

Benefit provides 100% of tuition, fees & books to qualified veterans with an established service-connected disability. Benefit includes a monthly allowance for living expenses.

Chapter 33 – Post-9/11 GI BIll®

Benefit provides qualified veterans and dependents (with transferred entitlement) up to 36 months of educational assistance. Students at the 100% benefit level will receive up to the maximum allowed per academic year toward tuition/fees and may qualify for Yellow Ribbon benefits; students with less than 100% benefit will receive their prorated benefit level of the maximum allowed. In addition, students are eligible for a book stipend and a monthly housing allowance.

Yellow Ribbon Program

Roberts Wesleyan University is proud to be a partner with the US Department of Veteran Affairs in administering the Yellow Ribbon program, providing qualified veterans and dependents 100% tuition coverage per standard academic year for Undergraduate and Graduate degree programs. Eligible students must be approved for Post-9/11 GI BIll® benefits at the 100% tier and cannot be Active Duty status.

Contribution: Roberts Wesleyan University and the VA will match dollar for dollar up to an additional $10,000 per academic year. These combined contributions, in addition to the Post-9/11 GI BIll® benefit, provide students with funding towards Roberts Wesleyan University tuition per academic year. Total Contributions cannot exceed cost of tuition.

Chapter 35 – Dependents’ Education Assistance (DEA)

Benefit provides monthly educational assistance to eligible dependents of certain veterans for up to 45 months.

Chapter 1606 – Montgomery GI Bill: Selected Reserve

Benefit provides a monthly educational assistance allowance for up to 36 months.
