Honors Choir Festival

Join us for a weekend of high-level music making. The best high school choir students from all over New York are invited to participate. Similar to the NYSSMA conference, students spend a weekend in rehearsals and sectionals preparing for their Sunday concert. We make sure there is time for lots of food and fun as well!
Meet the Director
Dr. Adam Potter
A versatile musician, conductor Adam Potter is the newly appointed Director of Choral Activities at Roberts Wesleyan College where he will also be serving as Director of the Honors Choir Festival. When he worked at Delta State University, he conducted the Delta Chorale, the University Chamber Singers, and the Delta Singers Women’s Chorale and taught coursework in vocal music methods and conducting. In addition to his responsibilities at DSU, Dr. Potter accepted a position as Director of Music at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Cleveland. He earned a PhD in choral conducting and music education from the Florida State University College of Music and Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in music education and choral conducting, respectively, from the Greatbatch School of Music, Houghton College, where he was a Presser and Presidential Scholar. His choral music mentors include Judy Bowers, Kevin Fenton, Brandon Johnson, and André Thomas.
Attention choir teachers! We are looking for your exceptional and hard working students to participate in our honors festival. Using our Google drive form, please submit recommendations for all of your students who choose to apply. You will need to submit one recommendation per student. Your feedback is weighed heavily in the acceptance process. A recommendation for each student is required. Students without a recommendation will not be considered. To submit your recommendations, visit: TEACHER RECOMMENDATION. You can also email your recommendations to firstname.lastname@example.org if that is more convenient.
How Students ApplyOur application process is all online! Visit: HONORS CHOIR STUDENT REGISTRATION to submit your application. Please make sure to fill out all of the information accurately on the Google drive form.
Participation Fee: Registration information must be submitted by Monday, November 25, 2019. A $120 participation fee will be due upon notification of acceptance. Fee covers all accommodations, meals, music and other expenses. You can now pay online! Visit www.roberts.edu/festivalpayment.
If you submit your information by Friday, October 4, 2019, the participation fee will be reduced to $95 if you are accepted.
