Chemistry Lab Camp

Roberts is excited to offer our 6th bi-annual chemistry lab camp in May of 2022! This program is designed primarily for home-schooled high school students who want to get more hands-on experience in chemistry. However, other high school students are welcome to participate.  The lab camp includes:

  • A review of introductory chemistry topics
  • Practical general chemistry experiments and applications
  • Experience with instrumental techniques and sensors used in chemical analysis
  • A preview into the college laboratory setting

Program Schedule: May 16-20, 2022

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday - 9:30-12:30 p.m.
  • Thursday will be a full day - 9:30 -3:30 p.m. (lunch provided)
  • Friday there will be a closing ceremony beginning at 12:00 p.m. with a small reception to follow. 

Cost: $175 due April 25, 2022

Total amount is due with student registration form no later than April 25, 2022.

Cost includes a non-refundable $25 processing fee, lab manuals and supplies, a T-shirt, a certificate of participation, and fun while learning!

Instructor:

Jason Taylor, Ph.D., Professor of Chemistry  

Dr. Taylor (JT) attended Baldwin-Wallace College and received his BS in Chemistry and minor in Biology. He continued his education at Indiana University where he received a Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2002. JT taught at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County for one year before joining the faculty at Roberts in 2003. He later became chair of the Biological and Chemical Sciences Department in 2009 and was recently name dean of the School of Natural and Social Sciences in 2022.
