Homeschooled Students

Roberts Wesleyan College recognizes that greater numbers of students are receiving instruction at home instead of through a traditional high school program. Homeschooled students are required to submit application materials as stated for all students. Homeschoolers who submit work to an established school program should have the organization send a transcript. Otherwise, students should provide a copy of the reading list, information regarding the curriculum used in their homeschool program during the 9th - 12th grade years, and a transcript of grades received. Students are also required to submit their SAT or ACT scores. Homeschool students are not eligible for test optional admission.

New York residents wishing to receive TAP (Tuition Assistance Program—state grant) need to demonstrate the "Ability to Benefit" (ATB) from higher education. Presently, the SAT and ACT are not acceptable ATB tests. One of the following are required to meet these requirements:

• US High School Diploma (from a school registered with the State of New York) or the recognized equivalent (GED)
• A passing score on a federally approved ability-to-benefit test identified by the NYS Board of Regents (Accuplacer, ASSET, COMPASS) and independently administered and evaluated by the Commissioner of Education. Roberts Wesleyan College offers the Accuplacer (an ATB approved test) on campus for the convenience of our homeschooled students. To schedule Accuplacer testing contact the Office of Admissions or the Learning Center.
• A record of a prior (post-secondary) degree earned by a student
• Completed 24 semester hour credits in specified subjects as a recognized candidate for a degree in an approved (accredited) institution of higher education (6 credits of English, 3 credits of Math, 3 credits of Natural Science, 3 credits of Social Science, 3 credits of Humanities, and 6 credits applicable to the students program).
