Freshman Admission

Roberts Wesleyan College reviews a freshman applicant's admissibility through a broad range of factors. A completed application file must include the following:

  • Application for admission
  • Official transcripts of high school and/or college work completed or in progress
    • To finalize admission, a final transcript must be submitted upon graduation. To be considered final, the high school transcript must show grades for each course taken as well as the high school graduation date.
  • Official SAT or ACT scores or the applicant may choose to be considered for test optional admission. If an applicant chooses to pursue test optional admission, the applicant's admissibility will be determined based on other factors excluding the SAT or ACT score.

Roberts has a rolling admissions policy. Completed applications are reviewed regularly throughout the year. While admission interviews are not required, they are strongly recommended. All documents submitted as part of the admissions process will become the property of Roberts Wesleyan College and cannot be returned to the student or forwarded to another institution.

Students who complete college credit while in high school but are planning to enroll at Roberts will be evaluated through the freshman admissions process.  In order to evaluate college level coursework, an official transcript must be received from all granting institutions.

The minimum freshman requirements for regular admission to Roberts are as follows:

  • High School Grade Point Average (GPA): 2.8 or higher out of 4.0
  • Standardized Test: SAT 940 or higher or ACT of 17 or higher

Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission into Roberts Wesleyan College. An opportunity for additional testing and/or campus interview may be required prior to an admission decision. Any student who has a criminal record will be asked for further information.

Provisional Admission - If it is determined that an incoming student would benefit from academic support and guidance, he or she may be admitted with a provisional status. This would entitle the student to dedicated academic oversight to support their success. In support of the student's academic success, first semester coursework will be limited to a maximum of 14 semester hours (full-time status) and the student will receive direct support from the Learning Center during his or her first semester. At the completion of the first semester, students with provisional status will have their records reviewed to determine if additional academic support would be beneficial for the next semester. This review will be conducted by the Academic Guidance and Support Committee. Included with a student’s letter acceptance will be an Academic Promise document. The Academic Promise serves to signal the student’s commitment to their own success by utilizing the services listed above. This document must be signed and returned to finalize enrollment and receive financial aid.

Provisional Mentor Admission - There may be circumstances where a student is admitted under a status called Provisional Mentor. The Provisional Mentor policy permits the admission of students not meeting regular admissions standards by offering not only the support offered in the Academic Promise but also weekly meetings with an assigned mentor to provide academic support. A student under this policy must fulfill the same requirements as a student under Provisional Admission standing.

Test Optional Admission - If a student requests to be considered for test optional admission, they will be asked to submit an additional recommendation from a past or current English teacher. To be considered for test optional admission, a student must meet a minimum high school GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0. This admissions policy represents an alternative admission process that allows Roberts to consider academic strengths that may not be captured by SAT or ACT scores.
