Student Spotlight: Anna Wiater (Pathway to Teaching)

Anna Wiater

What drew you to Roberts?

The Pathway to Teaching program drew me to Roberts.

I couldn’t ask for a better school with a more supportive environment and staff! I enjoy the small class size

If you are currently employed, what is your job?

I am a Kindergarten teacher at St. Pius Tenth School.

How do you use your Roberts education to inform your current career?

The education I have received at Roberts will help me in every aspect of my career. Roberts takes the time to teach the whole student.

I will take pride in my Roberts education after I graduate.

What is the best thing about studying your field?

The best thing about being an education major is being able to be a role model to our next generation.

I still remember the teachers who had a positive impact on me during my schooling and I hope to have that same impact on my students.

What course has been your favorite (so far) and why?

My favorite course so far has been Education in a Changing World.

This course has been my favorite because I enjoyed getting to know the history of education, why education is the way it is today, and how we got to this point.

Who is your favorite professor and why?

My favorite professor is Holley Rushforth.

She has been my favorite professor because she takes the time to get to know every student and ensure that they are comfortable in her classroom.

She is a great role model for all education majors.

How do you aspire to serve others?

I aspire to serve others by being authentic, always trying to help others, and giving grace.

I strive to be a role model in everything that I do in my life.

If you could help everyone understand one thing, what would it be and why?

I would like everyone to understand that it is important to be compassionate in today’s society.

We each have our own set of values and beliefs, our own unique experiences, and our own morals that makes each of us special. Everyone should be valued for who they are, what they stand for, and what they believe in.

Most importantly, we need to build a cohesive community that respects individuality. We all need to be traveling down the same road together reaching the same goal; compassion, understanding, and more importantly, respect.
