JSI Partnered with ATAP on Threat Assessment Conference

Roberts Wesleyan College’s Justice and Security Institute (JSI) partnered with the Association of Threat Assessment Professional’s(ATAP) Northeast Chapter for a day-long threat assessment and management training event on Wednesday, May 22. Over 150 people attended this first joint JSI/ATAP event to learn from experts on topics including:

  • Threat assessment and threat management in a major national corporation
  • Protecting houses of worship in an increasing threat environment
  • Community-based responses to high-risk cases involving threats of targeted violence and concerning behavior
  • The evolution of threat assessment and ATAP's role in shaping its future

"Our hope is that we'll learn a little bit about threat assessment and management and maybe get them more interested to learn more which will help them acquire the skills that needed to become preventative and recognizing risk facts and warning behaviors of someone who may be on the pathway to violence and then we can mitigate that and hopefully be preventative and stop them from committing their ultimate act of violence,"   said Joe Testani, Director of the Justice and Security Institute at Roberts Wesleyan College.
