Dr. DeRue has been an occupational therapist for 20+ years with a focus on adult/older adults across the rehabilitation spectrum. This has included acute care, SNF rehab, acute rehab, outpatient, and most recently 10 years providing home-based therapy. In addition, she has specialized in lymphedema management and developed a pre/post-operative protocol for surgical patients in the Breast Care Center at URMC. Regardless of setting, the focus of her therapeutic efforts has been holistic therapy using a client-centered approach to understand both the physical and psychosocial aspects of each patient.

Prior to joining the Roberts team, Dr. DeRue served as adjunct faculty in the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at Bryant & Stratton College as well as in the masters entry-level Occupational Therapy Program at Nazareth College. She is most intrigued by the opportunity to incorporate christian faith into her teaching philosophy.

Outside of her career, Dr. DeRue has been married to her high school sweetheart since 2000. Together they share two adolescent daughters and a very needy golden retriever named Harper. She is very active in her church where she most recently held the position of Council President. She is an avid reader of all genres and considers herself to be a life-long learner.
