Studio Art majors earn a Bachelor of Arts degree that is grounded in a broad foundation and includes an area of focus in either Traditional Media (2D/3D) or Digital Media.
The first-year Foundations Program includes courses in art and design as well as a professional practices seminar. After the first year, students begin to work in their focus along with elective studio courses accompanied by integrative study in art history, theory, and criticism.
The program of study culminates with a Capstone experience. The Capstone is an individually completed year-long, faculty-mentored project in which students produce a body of work in art or design, prepare that work for exhibition or production, and develop a professional portfolio with their specific focus.

General Education Requirements:
Per Core Curriculum Requirements list Exception: MUSC or FNAR must be taken for fine arts requirement.
Minimum Requirements: Overall and major GPA of 2.0; no grade less than C- in the major.
Transfer Requirements: See institutional transfer policies. Transfers who intend to major in Art should submit a portfolio and meet with faculty.
Application to the Major: Standard institutional major application form.

- ARTS 2010 Ways of Seeing: Images We Live and Die By for a minimum of 2 credits (3 credits are recommended).
- 10 credit hours of foundations courses during the first two semesters:
