Interprofessional Education Simulation Training

On April 4th, the Crothers Science and Nursing Center hallways at Roberts Wesleyan University had a murmur of excitement and anticipation as the campus transformed into an immersive emergency room setting for the highly anticipated Interprofessional Education (IPE) Simulation Training.

In a powerful collaboration between the nursing, social work, and criminal justice programs, students pursuing careers in healthcare were given a unique opportunity to practice their skills in a safe, controlled environment. With the help of volunteer actors portraying a range of medical emergencies, from severe traumas to critical injuries and psychological needs, the university ran two live simulations, allowing students to assess and address real-time scenarios under the guidance of faculty supervision.

This innovative training approach, grounded in research and evidence, fostered interprofessional collaboration – a growing trend in healthcare that has proven instrumental in improving student learning and patient outcomes.
