Alumni Spotlight: Jamarr Myers Receives 2022 New York State Commendation Award

Congratulations to Jamarr Myers’06, ‘08 (Business Administration, M.S. Strategic Leadership) on receiving a 2022 New York State Commendation Award for his work in the community and with young people.

Myers and his brother, Jermayne, were recognized on Dec. 19 at the Winter Awards Ceremony held at Kilburn Hall at the Eastman Theater. The award was presented by New York State Senator Jeremy Cooney. “These men are pillars of the community,” said Cooney.

Myers is the EnCompass Future Ready Program Coordinator. EnCompass, focuses on youth development with a special emphasis on education and job readiness. In 2020, he received the Rochesterian Alumni Award from Roberts Wesleyan University.

“I truly wouldn’t be receiving this award without the support, guidance and empowerment, you have been so kind in providing me over the years,” said Myers to Dr. Ervin and Dr. Carrie Starr.
