Why did you choose to come to Roberts?
Its positive reputation and Christian connection.
It was also a very personable experience throughout the entire application process. I didn’t feel as if I was just another number. Kind faculty and staff helped me along every step of the way.
What did you love most about your time here?
I’m a wife and mom, and was working part time while completing my degree. I had options that worked for me and allowed me to still give to the other areas of my life without sacrificing more than I wanted to.
I love the flexibility that Roberts offers in its degree programs; whether it be full time or part time, as well as being able to choose when to take classes.
I always felt valued at Roberts. Professors truly want the best for their students and will make sure you are understanding the material and ultimately succeed.
Even after graduation, everyone was there to offer guidance and answer questions about interviewing and job opportunities. Roberts extends itself beyond graduation date for its students.
How are you applying your education to your career?
I am now a 5th grade teacher and apply my education from Roberts daily. The insight and knowledge I received from Roberts has prepared me to face challenges and everyday tasks with confidence.
Roberts had opportunities to learn from professionals with real world experience and didn’t solely focus on textbook learning.
What do you love most about teaching?
I love so many things about teaching! Watching students find joy in learning is one of my favorites. Watching them engage in an exciting lesson or have that “aha” moment after struggling with a concept is a gift. It's exciting knowing that no two days are going to be exactly the same!
I appreciate that everyday is different; whether it be the lessons themselves or how students interact with their peers and myself. I think it’s fun to be able to use creativity in every aspect of teaching. While it’s a job that provides a daily challenge, it also produces an incredible, immeasurable reward.
I’m there for my class, but my students give me much more than they’ll ever realize.
Why did you want to earn your M.Ed degree?
It's always been a dream of mine. It was put on the shelf after my undergrad, getting married, and having kids. When the opportunity came to pursue this dream, I took it. I’m so glad that I did!
How do you aspire to serve others?
By helping them realize their potential.
Oftentimes it's easy to get down on ourselves and minimize our value or gifts we’ve been given. I want to encourage others to see these things within themselves and then use those to affect others; like a ripple effect.
I want others to recognize the good that’s in the world and the good they can bring to the world. What’s beautiful is that everyone has their own way of bringing that good to the world.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Completing my M.Ed while my two children watched me do it. Walking across the stage to receive my degree and hearing them cheer me on was one of my proudest moments for sure.
What advice would you give someone considering their M.Ed degree?
Don’t wait! Roberts makes the entire application process easy to understand and they are truly there for their students.
The field of education needs passionate teachers, and now is a great time to jump in and be able to have options for where you would like to be.
