Alumni Spotlight: Miranda Leo Featured on Good Day Rochester to Discuss Quiet Quitting

Miranda Leo

Miranda Leo '19 (Cross Disciplinary Studies) is a Recruiting Manager at JK Executive Strategies and joined Good Day Rochester to discuss "quiet quitting" on Sept. 30.

Leo described quiet quitting as employees who don't outright quit their job, however they are quitting in the idea of not going above and beyond. An employee will focus on tasks strictly within their job description and do the bare minimum to get the job done while setting clear boundaries to improve work-life balance.

Quiet Quitting

When an employee clocks in and does the bare minimum, they engage less too. Leo shared that employees may:

  • Realize they don't want to work in the industry they are in
  • Understand that their job did give value at one point, but it doesn't anymore
  • Not enjoy the work they are doing anymore
  • Value work-life balance more than they did in the past
  • Communicate healthy boundaries

TV interviews are usually brief and Leo did a great job of delivering memorable and concise message points on this subject. She smiled often, engaged with the reporters and the audience. Leo did the following very well:

  • Making a personal connection between herself and the viewer
  • Making good eye contact with the viewers and the reporters
  • Being warm, welcoming and to the point
  • Knowing the subject well and anticipating questions
  • Speaking in good sound bites
