Alumni Spotlight: David A. Stacy ’11 (Business Management and Entrepreneurship) - DadBod Fitness and Fitness for Life

David Stacy

When your wife asks you to support her in something, you do it.  So, four years ago when David Stacy ’11 (Business Management and Entrepreneurship) and his wife agreed to do 30-Days to Healthy Living together he had no idea how much it would change him.

David, like many college graduates, got caught up in life after college.  He worked as an accounting and financial analyst.  He had jobs at the University of Rochester and Paychex, and ultimately went into remodeling and subcontracting through his father’s business, R.A. Stacy Construction.  He started a family, and life got busy.  With two small children, it didn’t seem like there was time for fitness.

However, after losing 10 pounds in 4 weeks he felt better and realized that he wanted to make a permanent change.  That experience awakened a desire to research how to approach training and nutrition, even while being a busy husband and father.

Two years ago, this led David to start a YouTube channel for busy parents who want to stay in shape.  He called it DadBod Fitness.  Now, he’s helping other people reach the goals he set for himself.

David was well-trained by Carrie Starr to think creatively, so providing this service came naturally.  In fact, one thing he learned from Carrie was that you’re only not creative if you think you aren’t.  This attitude helped overcome challenges with creating content for the videos and for managing the tech side as well.

Christian faith undergirds everything David does.  While he has to make a living, he also wants to help people live better and healthier lives, including faith in Christ.  His plan is to branch out into other content areas (like faith and family relations), but for now, fitness is the focus.

If you are interested in learning more about DadBod Fitness, check out one of David’s YouTube videos here.  You can download a plan and get some basic advice here.  And, if you would like to reach out to David via email, he can be contacted at DadBodFitnessTV@gmail.com.

David hopes that these resources will help people focus on how to stay healthy, even with little time and busy lives.
