On Friday, April 9, Roberts Wesleyan College will host its biannual leadership series, featuring a conversation with Monroe County Commissioner of Public Health Dr. Michael Mendoza on the topic of leading through change. The event will take place from 8 to 9:30 a.m. via Zoom.
In a year of embracing change to protect public health and safety, Mendoza has been on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis, providing critical leadership, guidance and decisions that have kept the Rochester community safe during the pandemic. The conversation will address specific leadership challenges that occur in times of change, including understanding and making decisions in an ever-changing landscape, knowing when to pivot and creating buy-in to establish new behaviors, among other topics.
Mendoza is the ninth commissioner of public health for Monroe County. He is also appointed as associate professor at the University of Rochester in the departments of Family Medicine, Public Health Sciences and Nursing. As commissioner of public health, Mendoza’s goal is to improve population health by strengthening the collaboration between clinical medicine and public health in our community.
The conversation will be moderated by Lisa Tiffin, director of government, corporate and foundation relations at Roberts Wesleyan College and Northeastern Seminary. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions during the presentation and network during breakout room sessions.
