Music Students Successful at Singing Auditions

Two current Roberts Wesleyan College music students and one alumna placed in the 2020/2021 National Association of Teachers of Singing District Auditions. The event took place in December 2020 and the results were posted on Feb. 7. The results are:

  • First Place: 4th/5th Year College | Rebecca Mugnolo’20
  • Finalist: 4th/5th Year College | Lillian Goetzman’21
  • Second Place: 3rd Year College | Abbegael Greene’22

Rebecca Mugnolo

Rebecca Mugnolo ’20 graduated from Roberts in December with a B.S. degree in Vocal Performance. She was a winner of the 2019 Roberts Wesleyan College Concerto/Aria Competition, she has performed as a soloist with the Roberts Wesleyan College-Community Orchestra (RWCCO), the Roberts Wesleyan College Chorale, in Opera Scenes and Great American Songbook concerts, and as Gretel in Hansel and Gretel and Pamina in The Magic Flute in RWC Opera Theatre productions. Mugnolo is also a past first-place winner of the NATS auditions. She is actively auditioning for master’s degree programs in vocal performance.

Lillian Goetzman

Lillian Goetzman ’21, is a senior Music Education major, who successfully completed her student teaching placements last semester, and is already employed as a substitute teacher in the public schools while still an undergraduate.  Goetzman is the 2020 Aria winner of the Roberts Wesleyan College Concerto/Aria Competition and was cast in the role of Papagena in the Roberts Wesleyan College Opera Theatre production of The Magic Flute. She has performed often as a soloist in Chorale, Jazz Ensemble, Opera Scenes, and Great American Songbook concerts. She is currently in the process of auditioning for graduate programs.

Abbegael Greene

Abbegael Greene ’22 is a junior Music Education major who is as passionate about performing as she is about teaching.  She holds a leadership position in the Roberts Wesleyan College Chorale and has performed as soloist with the Roberts Chorale, RWCCO, at the 2019 Homecoming Gala, and in Great American Songbook concerts. Greene is a creator and co-producer of Opera Quarantunes, a program of physically-distanced opera scenes, organized by Roberts music students, which will be performed and live-streamed later this semester.

Over 200 singers from more than 30 northeast colleges and universities including Eastman School of Music, Crane School of Music | SUNY Potsdam, Fredonia School of Music, Ithaca College School of Music, Binghamton University and others, participated in the online event.
