Roberts Wesleyan College Wind Ensemble featured on WXXI Radio

The Roberts Wesleyan College Wind Ensemble under the direction of Paul Shewan will be featured on WXXI Radio, Classical 91.5 in a new program called Performance Upstate, Monday, November 30 at 8:00 p.m. The performance is from a live concert in December, 2019 at the New York State Music Association winter conference that is held annually in Rochester. Shewan submitted the recorded performance for possible use on the program in early August and received word on November 20 that they would use one of the selections titled, Symphony on Themes by John Philip Sousa: After "The Thunderer," by Ira Hearshen. Quote to use: "This was a fantastic performance by the Wind Ensemble and I couldn't be more pleased that WXXI has chosen one of our pieces for this broadcast. Congratulations to the members of the Wind Ensemble for their hard work and dedication!"

The RWC Wind Ensemble, consisting of 45-50 members, tours semi-annually and performs throughout the academic year. Professional recordings may be heard on the Albany Records label. As a result of Paul Shewan and Julie Rushik (Director of the RWC English Language Institute) taking annual recruitment trips to China since 2014, the Wind Ensemble has become more international in its scope. At the time of this performance, there were 12 talented Chinese students in the group.
