For the sixth consecutive year, Roberts Wesleyan College is pleased to announce that the institution has been named on the 2020 Great Colleges to Work For list, one of the largest and most respected workplace recognition programs in the country, based on employee feedback. Roberts Wesleyan was also selected for the 2020 Honor Roll distinction, which consists of stand-out universities in their size categories.

The college was recognized in the following categories this year:

  • Collaborative Governance: Faculty members are involved appropriately in decisions related to academic programs.
  • Facilities, Workspace & Security: Facilities adequately meet needs, the appearance of the campus is pleasing and the institution takes steps to provide a secure environment.
  • Work/Life Balance: Policies give employees the flexibility to manage their personal lives.
  • Confidence in Senior Leadership: Leaders have the necessary knowledge, skills and experience for institutional success.
  • Tenure Clarity & Process: Requirements for tenure are clear, faculty members say.

“The work and mission of Roberts Wesleyan College are rooted in our faith, which reminds us that greatness is measured by our willingness to serve others,” said Deana L. Porterfield, president of Roberts Wesleyan College. “While it is an honor to be recognized as a leader among institutions of higher education, I recognize the last months have been the most challenging yet. Even in this season, I believe that our faculty and staff, through their selfless service and their example of genuine concern for others, have effectively helped our students reach their full potential."

Great Colleges to Work For recognizes colleges that receive top ratings from their employees on workforce practices and policies. Competing against hundreds of institutions across the country, Roberts Wesleyan College participated in a rigorous selection process, which included a two-part assessment: an institutional audit that captured demographics and workplace policies, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and staff, hosted by ModernThink LLC. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback. A total of 79 colleges have been recognized on this year’s list out of the 221 participating two-year and four-year institutions that applied. Only 42 institutions were named to this year’s Honor Roll.
