Roberts Wesleyan College Community Theatre Receives Award from Gates-Chili Chamber of Commerce

Roberts Wesleyan College Community Theatre (RWCCT) was recently awarded the Gates Chili Chamber of Commerce's 2020 Culture and Arts award. This annual award recognizes an individual, or organization, whose talents or patronage has strengthened the understanding, appreciation and support of art and culture as an integral part of community.

The RWCCT put on a spectacular performance of Newsies over two weekends in January. Directed by Eric Traugott, the show featured talent from all over the Rochester area. The RWCCT provides yearly opportunities for local performers of all ages to participate in productions and learn more about musical theatre.

The theater board was established in 1997 with their first production, "Fiddler on the Roof." Since then, they have provided entertainment to Rochester through dramatic plays and musicals such as West Side Story that won “Best Local Musical Theater Production of 2015” in CITY Newspaper's Best of Rochester Arts and Entertainment guide.
