Roberts Restart Message

Dear Students, Faculty, Staff and Families:

I pray you are well and am eagerly looking forward to the time when we can fully return to all our operations and fully reopen our Roberts Wesleyan College campus!

While the duration of this pandemic is still unknown, we have begun the Roberts Restart process. Our Roberts Restarts task force consists of eight subcommittees that are actively gathering information and preparing multiple scenarios for the 2020-2021 academic year, which include in-person and virtual instruction for our new and returning students. The work of this task force includes many important elements, including reviewing multiple scenarios for restart timelines, implications of each and the latest public health information to outline plans which will provide a campus environment that is safe and healthy for students, faculty and staff.

The health and safety of our students is our priority. We continue to evaluate all available information from New York State and public health officials on restarting parameters, to ensure our plans align with all federal, state and county expectations. Although there are pressures to speed up the process, and there are differing opinions voiced about moving forward, in times like these we must act in partnership and compliance with our elected leaders and public health experts. Let us pray for our leaders while we exercise patience when so much is unknown.

We care deeply about you and can assure you that in the fall, we will be ready to support your continued education toward your degree. Students, whether you are a traditional undergrad, an adult learner, a dorm resident, commuter, transfer or international; whether you are on the way toward your bachelors, masters or doctorate, we will continue to foster opportunities to help you establish and maintain meaningful and important relationships with your faculty, staff and peers. Roberts has always excelled at creating relationships that matter, in both the online and in-person learning environments. We know how important this is to you, and it is equally important to us as a distinct piece of your transformational Roberts Wesleyan education.

Even in these uncertain times, especially in a world of difficult and sobering realities, Roberts Wesleyan College remains dedicated to preparing graduates of character who are thoughtful, spiritually mature, service-oriented and well-prepared to make a positive impact in the communities they serve.

Please continue to visit the Roberts COVID-19 website to find updates, remain up to date on the most current information, and ask questions related to the effects of the pandemic on the College.

I am deeply grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you for your commitment and your patience during this time as we continue to assess and develop our plans for the fall semester.

Our history tells us that prevailing prayer and exuberant optimism sustained us through challenging times in our history. As we look to the fall, we lean on our God who is Forever Faithful.

With Prayer and Optimism,

Dr. Deana L. Porterfield
President
