Redhawks Spring Sports Season 2020 Cancelled Due to COVID-19

With the growing concern surrounding COVID-19 and in partnership with decisions made by the East Coast Conference Council of Presidents, Roberts Wesleyan College has decided to cancel the 2020 spring sports season.

All conference and non-conference competitions are cancelled, effective immediately. In addition, team activities for all sports will be cancelled effective March 18, 2020.

“This was a heartbreaking decision to make,” said Director of Athletics, Bob Segave. “The commitment that is poured out by our student-athletes, coaches, and staff to represent the Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks is evident on a daily basis. We know this will have a heavy effect on many, but we are confident this is the right decision to protect the health and well-being of our student-athletes.”

"Like our colleagues around the country, our greatest concern is for the health and safety of all those involved with the ECC: student-athletes, coaches, staff members, as well as all those who support our programs," said ECC Commissioner, Dr. Robert Dranoff. "Our presidents and athletics directors have worked very hard to help make difficult decisions for their programs and team members over the past several days. One of the toughest aspects of these decisions is the impact it has had on so many senior student-athletes. We thank them for all their contributions to their schools and to ECC sports."

Any further information will be communicated through the athletics website and roberts.edu.
