What stands out from your experience here at Roberts?

What stands out to me from my experience at Roberts are the connections I’ve made. From the classroom to the court, I’ve made many friends and gotten to know many people who have had such a positive impact on my life. My professors and coaches have pushed me to become a better person and have truly prepared me for the future.

What is the best thing about studying Marketing?

The best thing about studying Marketing is the creative aspect of it. Every one of my classes that are required in my major has some aspect of creativity that has challenged me to think outside the box while accomplishing a task. I love Marketing because it’s all about the mission of a brand and how that brand portrays itself. It takes a lot of creativity to figure out ways to accurately portray your mission.

What are your career plans after graduation?

After graduation, I plan on continuing my education in the 4+1 Strategic Marketing Masters Program here at Roberts. Eventually, I’d like to work in marketing athletics, whether that be at a school or for a team.

What is your favorite course here at Roberts?

My favorite class here at Roberts is Marketing Management. The class is set up a lot like graduate classes with it being discussion-based, and we have a strategic marketing project right now that we’re working on for a kennel. Getting to work with a client and gaining experience has been very enjoyable and challenged me.

Share about being on the basketball team.

Being on the women’s basketball team here at Roberts has really impacted my life. I’ve played with some amazing teammates and formed solid relationships. Basketball has pushed me to become a better leader and helped me a lot with my time management skills since it can be tough to balance athletics and course work.

What’s your favorite food at Garlock?

My favorite food at Garlock is the turkey burgers.

What is your favorite spot on campus?

My favorite spot on campus is the gym because I spend a lot of time letting off steam on the court and escaping from my long list of tasks!

What is your favorite Roberts memory?

My favorite Roberts memory would have to be the last day of our Sophomore year. My friends and I went hiking in Letchworth State Park and after that, we had a lovely dinner together. To top it off a group of us went up to Ontario beach and just hung out. We concluded the night by getting milkshakes and garbage plates at Wimpy’s. It was great to just unwind as the semester ended and it was exciting to think that I was halfway done with college.

What is your favorite Rochester restaurant?

My favorite Rochester restaurant is North Chili Family Restaurant (NCFR). Their breakfast is amazing and I could eat it every day. The familial aspect of NCFR just makes it so welcoming and enjoyable.

How have you served others at Roberts?

I have served others at Roberts through volunteering. As part of the women’s basketball team, we’ve done many service projects from the Alzheimer’s Walk to working with the BELL students to helping clean up a Salvation Army when we were at the NCCAA Championship tournament in Indiana. I’ve also been a part of the Executive team of SAAC since Sophomore year, and I love getting to help the athletic department in any way I can.

What advice would you give to a new student?

The advice that I would give to a new student would be this: Use your time at Roberts to enjoy being with people you love, but remember to work hard in the classroom. Use the connections you make at Roberts and don’t be hesitant to try new things. There are so many opportunities here, so be part of them!

In addition, there are going to be challenges wherever you go for college, but the people here at Roberts are what sets this college apart. I’ve never met more caring and honest professors and friends who would do anything for me. God has guided me using the people here at Roberts, and I will always be thankful for those connections.

Faculty Feedback:

William H. Todd, M.S., Associate Professor of Marketing; Internship Faculty Supervisor

“Emily is one of those students you would like to clone as she has greatly impressed me. She serves as a role model of “Can Do”, excellence and scholar athlete. I admire her quiet courage, how she continually builds confidence and her ability to step into any situation and bring her best to it. Emily has a humble attitude that allows her to both lead and follow. Her caring attitude extends into the many areas where she volunteers her time and energy. Emily is one of the students who learns everything she can with a goal of being the most successful student she can be.”
