Class of 2019 Spotlight on Successful Student Outcomes

With commencement on May 11th, this is the time of the year to celebrate our students and what they will be doing after graduation. Ultimately, we want our students to graduate from college with opportunities that continue to inspire them to transform themselves and the world. We reached out to our traditional undergraduates to ask them what they were doing after graduation; this spotlight features some of our Class of 2019 graduates and their plans for the future!

Did you know that 42% of Roberts graduates have received a job offer before graduation? Here are some highlights of grads who have landed jobs before graduation:

Samantha Barniak (Communication, Pre Law minor) will be an executive assistant with the Open Door Mission in Rochester, NY. She is looking forward to be part of their mission to restore the lives of impoverished men, women and children in Rochester. Samantha is from Holley, NY.

Megan Burnham (Marketing) has accepted a production assistant position at Calvin Klein in New York City. Megan is from East Islip, NY.

Victoria Crocker (International Business) will be working and doing ministry work in Glacier National Park in Montana with A Christian Ministry in the National Parks (ACMNP). This is a summer position which includes running the Interdenominational Sunday services in the park. Vicki is from Buffalo.

Colleen Denny (Liberal Arts) will be a tutor at Huntington Learning Center in Rochester. Colleen is from Syracuse, NY.

Meghan Kettinger (Nursing) will be a Registered Nurse at Highland Hospital on the oncology, palliative and hospice care unit starting in August. In the future, she hopes to go back to school to become a nurse practitioner. Meghan is from Spencerport, NY.

Taylor Plourde (Communications) will be participating in the Rochester Youth Year, an AmeriCorps VISTA Program. She will be working on a specific program that provides education and/or financial support to the youth of the city of Rochester. Taylor is from Lisbon Falls, Maine.

Alexandria Piazza (Communication with concentration in Business) will be a merchandise cast member in the Disney College Program in Walt Disney World in Orlando. This will be her second experience in this program and she hopes to work for The Walt Disney Company. Alexandria is from Jamestown, NY.

Kyle Preston (Accounting) has accepted a position with ESL in Rochester. He will be a relationship banker at the Brighton branch. Kyle is from Caledonia, NY.

Laura VanAuken (English to Speakers of Other Languages) is the second graduate from Roberts with an ESOL degree. She will be finishing out the school year as a hired long-term substitute for grade 3-5 math intervention at Newark Central School District. Laura is from and Newark, NY.

 

Our graduates also have plans for further study to pursue their interests more in depth.  Here are some Roberts grads who will be attending graduate school:

Alissa Borlaug (Social Work, Minor in Psychology) will be attending graduate school at Roberts Wesleyan College. She will pursue her Masters in Social work through the advanced standing program. She will also be working part-time at the University of Rochester Department of Hematology-Oncology conducting research with parents of children with chronic illnesses who are affected by stress (more than usual). Alissa is from Rochester.

Taylor Bynoe (Sports Management and Marketing) will be attending graduate school at Temple University in Philadelphia. She will be pursuing her Master’s Degree in Sport Business at Temple’s School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management which is ranked #2 in the country for this program. Taylor is from Williamstown, NJ.

Kaleb Colosimo (Communication and Psychology) will be starting graduate school this fall at SUNY Brockport in their Mental Health Counseling Program. Kaleb is from Buffalo.

Sabrina DeVos (Music Education) will be attending graduate school at Florida State University in Tallahassee. She will be studying Music Art Administration. Sabrina is from Marion, NY.

Rebekah Distaffen (Cross Disciplinary Studies with focuses in Chemistry, Religion and Philosophy) plans to attend the seminary at Azusa Pacific University in California.  She will pursue a Masters of Art in Theological Studies with a concentration in Biblical Studies.  Her goal is to become a pastor in the Free Methodist Church.  Rebekah is from Chili, NY.

Saso Nady (Business Administration and Marketing) will be coming back to Roberts in the fall to pursue her Master’s in Strategic Leadership. Saso is from Cairo, Egypt.
