Advance Standing for Masters Programs for Bachelor of Health Administration Students and Graduates

The Health Administration suite of programs includes 3 programs: B.S. in Health Administration (BHA) [37 credits], M.S. in Health Administration (MHA) [43 credits] and the M.S. in Healthcare Informatics Administration (MHI) [42 credits].  Each program has defined admission criteria and course work to be completed to earn the degree.

BHA students and graduates who are pursuing the MHA or MHI program will be offered Advanced Standing that does not require they attend the first 3 courses of the MHA or MHI program.   This proposal makes no changes to BHA admission or course work requirements.  This stream lined path makes a Master’s degree an option in a time-shortened, very affordable format.

How does this work?

BHA graduates will enter the MHA/MHI program with Module 4 and will NOT attend the first 3 courses that are duplicative of BHA course work. The courses are:

  • MHA 530:  Health Care Systems and Organizations (3crs/5wks)
  • BUS 500:  Organizational Leadership (3crs/5wks)
  • MHA 520:  Health Care Research Methods (4crs/7wks)

BHA graduates can apply for Advanced Standing in MHA or MHI via 2 separate options:

1)     Students who graduated from BHA within the last 3 years may apply for Advanced Standing in the MHA or MHI program and enter the MHA or MHI cohort in Module 4 if they meet the current admission criteria for the MHA or MHI program.

2)     Students who will graduate from BHA may apply for Advanced Standing in the MHA or MHI program and enter the MHA or MHI cohort in Module 4 if they meet the current admission criteria for the MHA or MHI program.

The program begins in the Fall of 2017.
