Fall Leadership Breakfast Focuses on Entrepreneurs

More than 100 people showed up on a recent crisp October morning for our Fall Leadership Breakfast with national speaker, Bobby Gruenewald. Gruenewald is the founder of the popular Bible App, YouVersion, and the Innovation Leader at Lifechurch.tv.

Twice recognized by Fast Company as a one of their Most Creative People, Gruenewald shared the story of how he created YouVersion and was able to secure a spot for the YouVersion as one of the first Apple downloads available for their launch in 2008.

Gruenewald’s talk “Innovative Entrepreneurs” focused on his personal journey from business entrepreneur to pastor to the creation of an app that makes it easy for people to engage with the Bible. He also shared some practical tips that have structured his work. One surprising piece of advice was for people to, “Think inside the box.” Gruenewald explained that when we embrace constraints, we realize that limited resources combined with passion equals unlimited innovation.

Gruenewald wears his success humbly and was an extremely engaging speaker. In addition to leading us in an exercise that had us determining the best place to meet up with strangers in Washington, DC, with no other parameters, he took audience questions and stayed to engage individually with participants.

With a great mix of community leaders, business executives and Roberts Wesleyan faculty and staff, the morning was a perfect chance to network and catch up with connections and friends. You won’t want to miss our next Leadership Breakfast on March 18, 2016, where we will host a panel of local experts on “Making Your Company a Great Place to Work.”

Our Leadership Breakfast Series is free and is held as a service to our community. To make sure you don’t miss our next breakfast, contact Tammie Myslivecek at Myslivecek_Tammie@roberts.edu to get on our mailing list.
