Juneteenth Events in Rochester

To mark the emancipation of Black slaves and honor contributions to American society Juneteenth is celebrated on June 19. A few of this year's events happening in Rochester that you can participate in are:

The ROC Juneteenth 5k run/walk will benefit the Minister Franklin D. Florence Rochester Civil Rights Heritage Park, dedicated in October 2021 to Minister Florence, considered a key leader in the Rochester Black Freedom Struggle. This project was spearheaded by the Spiritus Christi Anti-Racism Coalition (SPARC) and supported by the First Universalist Initiative for Racial Equity (FIRE), the First Unitarian Church, the City of Rochester, the State of New York, and many local philanthropists. The site, located in Baden Park near Upper Falls, will explore Civil Rights leaders, their stories, and their struggles.

Juneteenth Festival on June 17 at MLK Memorial Park. Headlining at the festival will be Lili' Mo, hip-hop recording artist.There will also be a parade starting at 10 a.m. Black businesses will be highlighted at the festival.
