Celebrating Westside Psychological Services Grand Opening

Dr. Alysa MacMillen

Westside Psychological Services at Roberts Wesleyan College had its grand opening celebration on Jan 21. Westside Psychological Services moved from two shared offices in the Voller Athletic Center to five clinician offices, a play therapy room, two group therapy rooms, a computer learning lab, and two classrooms, all on the lower level of the Chesbro Center at 7 College Green Drive, just off of Buffalo Road. They now have ample parking for their clients at a stand-alone facility that is easily accessible and welcoming.

"This location is exactly what Westside Psychological Services needs to meet the growing mental health concerns in our community. Our expanded facilities allow us to provide high-demand services including autism testing, psychoeducational evaluations, and cognitive-behavioral therapy to our neighbors at rates they can afford," Executive Director of the Community Institutes Carrie Starr said. "Seeking mental health services can be intimidating. This new location is more private and convenient for our clients. We want to take down any barriers from people receiving the mental health support they need."

Westside Psychological Services is also launching two new support groups this month, one for kids with anxiety (ages 7-12) and one for parents of anxious kids. Both groups will meet on Monday nights from 6-7:30, Jan 24- May 9. Email wps@roberts.edu or call 585-594-6720 to sign up.
