The Staff Association awarded a total of $5,000 to two outstanding students.
Every year the Staff Association awards two scholarships. The Staff Association is composed of staff members who work at Roberts Wesleyan College who believe that scholarship money is of vital importance to our students. Staff members personally donate to fund two scholarships to undergraduate students who exemplify leadership, Christian commitment, and service.
Congratulations to this year’s Staff Association Scholarship recipients!
Sandra Godwin'22 (Vocal Performance)
Award: $2,500
Godwin is a Resident Advisor on campus, a former International Student Representative in Student Senate, a current member of the Music Worship Team and a Cabinet member of Roberts Chorale. According to one of her nominators, “You only need speak with Sandra for a few minutes to clearly see that she believes the Great Commission to be the most important work she will ever complete, and she communicates the loving, servant heart of Jesus Christ in every interaction.” Sandra’s volunteer work in India included work with orphans, climate change and youth ministry. She was also a volunteer journalist for World Vision India. Godwin is originally from India.
Joanna Shamenda'22 (Nursing)
Award: $2,500
Shameda is the President of the Student Multicultural Advisory Council (SMAC) and has helped with many events for SMAC, SALT and Enactus during her time at Roberts. She is a Resident Assistant and works on campus as a Student Life Assistant. Shameda was inducted into her town’s Hall of Fame and actively does community service work, helps out with Friends Feeding Friends (an organization in Buffalo feeding the homeless) and is also heavily involved in her church. Joanna cares about service and looks for so any opportunity to do so. She is from Depew, NY.
