Criminal Justice Department to Support and Collaborate on Fairport Police Department on Restorative Justice Initiative

The Fairport Police Department has invited the Roberts Wesleyan College Criminal Justice Department to assist them with academic research and analysis on their newly created Restorative Justice initiative. This initiative places a social worker, within the department, who will work to implement Restorative Justice alternatives to arrest and incarceration.

This academic research will provide a real-life learning experience to students and teach them career skills through research analysis, project management and learning career skills working alongside the Fairport Police Department and the assigned social worker. Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice and Department Chair, Kirby Trask will serve as an adviser as a subject matter expert in Restorative Justice Practices. Assistant Professor of Homeland Security and Applied Intelligence, Glenn Grana, will oversee and mentor the student research analysts. Four students will be participating in this project as part of their education at Roberts, two from the Criminal Justice program and two from Homeland Security program.
