Changes to Spring Calendar: Semester will begin on Feb. 3

Roberts Wesleyan College to Start Spring Semester Later Due to COVID-19

In an abundance of caution, given the ongoing pandemic and the number of cases in Monroe County, Roberts Wesleyan College has made the decision to start the spring semester two weeks later than originally planned. The intent is to reduce the possibilities for spreading the virus with a later start after the holidays and the elimination of the break. Watch this informational video from President Porterfield:

The semester for traditional undergraduates and graduate students that was planned for Jan. 20 will now begin on Feb. 3 and continue through commencement on May 22. In place of a February break, study days are built in through the semester. A brief outline for the semester is:

  • Feb. 2    Residence Halls Open
  • Feb. 3    Classes Begin
  • Mar. 3    Study Day - No Classes
  • Apr. 2     Easter Recess
  • Apr. 29   Study Day - No Classes
  • May 21   Last Day of Classes
  • May 22   Commencement

Student-athletes will most likely return to campus earlier and will be notified by their coaches.

Cohort based adult and graduate programs will continue to meet virtually through January. Some programs will begin meeting in person February 1. Program directors will contact students with specific information.

All employees and students who will return to work, learn, or live on campus in the Spring semester are required to provide evidence of a negative Covid-19 test before the semester begins. More details on our testing strategy for the Spring semester as well as opportunities for testing on campus will be shared in early January.
