Dr. Grace Cummings Will Be Retiring At The End Of The 2020-2021 Academic Year

Earlier this year, well before we had even heard the word "pandemic," Dr. Grace Cummings informed me that she would be retiring at the end of the 2020-21 academic year. She will have served the Department of Music and Performing Arts at Roberts Wesleyan College for 39 years. Dr. Cummings earned her BS in Music Education from Roberts in 1975 and her MM in Voice from Ithaca College in 1978. In 2001, she earned her DMA in Music Education and Voice from the Eastman School of Music. For several years, she taught music in both public and private schools. In 1982, she began teaching voice in the Department of Music and Performing Arts. Since then, she has taught a breadth of courses including music education, theory, aural skills, piano, conducting, musical stage production, and introduction to music. She has also directed the Women's Choir for many years. In the spring of 2021, we will honor her with appropriate festivities. More about this will be posted in the fall. Thank you, Grace, for the many years you have faithfully served the college and the department.

Dr. Daniel Barta, Chair
