Music Graduate Gets a Job Before Graduation as a Luthier-In-Training

Roberts music graduate, Isaac Tabone ’16, recently got a job as a luthier-in-training working for J.R. Judd Violins, a string instrument shop in Williamsport PA. (A luthier is someone who repairs stringed instruments.) Isaac assists with the shop’s rental program by cleaning up returned violins and delivering instruments to schools and students in the company van and by shipping instruments.

J.R. Judd Violins also does repairs for professional musicians, colleges, and public schools. Isaac has begun learning the instrument repair trade, and has gotten a fair amount of practice already because of contracts with public schools. Isaac’s coworkers have a wealth of knowledge and are proving to be wonderful mentors for him.

Although Isaac says he misses being in Rochester, this is a wonderful opportunity for him.
