Redhawks Win 50th Annual Wendy's Classic Finale

Men's and Women's Basketball Take It Home

The Wendy's College Classic (WCC) - the largest and longest-running in-season tournament in the nation - celebrates its final and 50th Anniversary year.  “We look forward to the tournament every year. It’s going to be a little sad that we won’t have it next year, but I’m glad that for the last year we were able to take it home," said Roberts senior Tyrel Dixon.

Dixon was named as the Classic’s MVP for the second straight year after tallying 21 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Redhawks senior Samantha Courtney was named as the Classic’s Most Valuable Player for the second straight year, tallying 12 points, 10 boards and four blocked shots in the title game.

In conjunction with the 50th event, WCC inducted Mike Faro'73 into its Hall of Fame Class of 2015 - the only person in the Classic’s 49 –year history to participate as a player (1969-70 thru 1972-73), Head Men’s Coach (1978-79 thru 1980-81), Head Women’s Coach (1993-94 thru 1998-99), and Athletic Director (1989 thru 2015)…all for the Redhawks.
