Roberts Wesleyan University has added eight new academic programs to provide students with expertise in high-growth areas where employers search for talent. With an anticipated launch in the fall 2024, these new offerings include the following:

Actuarial Science

Actuarial Science

Actuarial Science is one of the most in-demand college majors today, with the number of jobs in Actuarial Science expected to grow 23% from 2022 to 2032, driven by the needs of the Insurance and Finance industries. Actuarial Science combines elements of Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science and Programming. This program incorporates courses in all areas, including Programming and Data Analytics, providing students the skills to contribute to their roles on Day 1. Students will also be prepared to take two Society of Actuaries exams - the "P" and "FM" exams. Actuarial Science degrees are also valuable to those who seek quantitative roles in Finance, Business, Sports, and other industries.


Business Analytics

Business Analytics

Business Analytics is essential in today's data-driven world as companies harness the power of data to make informed decisions, drive growth, and gain a competitive edge in rapidly evolving marketplaces. The Business Analytics program equips students with essential data analysis skills, including proficiency in SQL and Tableau. Students will learn to tackle various business challenges using low-code business analytics tools like spreadsheets and dashboards. The program prepares students for various business, finance, healthcare, and technology careers.


Cybersecurity

The 0% unemployment rate for Cybersecurity graduates reflects their ever-increasing role across the globe - roles that increasingly go beyond coding into management, structures, analysis, and more. The Cybersecurity program at Roberts equips students with the technical and business knowledge needed to secure high-paying and growing jobs in this field, all without needing to be high-ranking programmers. Portfolio-building and project-based classes ensure a robust resume before graduation and allow students to demonstrate the skills they need to land the best jobs in the field. 


Data Science

Data Science

With Data Analytics underpinning every industry globally and a reported 97% of businesses investing in improving their data systems, students at Roberts pursuing a degree in Data Analytics will learn job-focused skills needed to succeed in this growing industry. Built with the University of Michigan’s Dr. Charles Severance and structured around UC Berkeley’s internationally recognized data curriculum structures, graduates will be poised to succeed in an industry expected to grow at 4x the national average over the next decade.


Esports and Gaming Administration

Esports and Gaming Administration

From players to programmers, the gaming industry is growing exponentially and needs business-minded leaders with expertise in distribution, research, sales, and marketing. Between 2018 and 2019, the number of jobs in esports nearly doubled - growing a staggering 85%. Built-in partnership with Unity and the International Game Developers Association (IGDA), the Esports & Gaming Administration program builds off of core business courses to provide a solid understanding of the nuances of games and the complexities specific to managing esports teams and leagues.

Game Development

Games and gaming have grown to a $185 Billion dollar industry across mobile, PC, console, and VR/AR platforms. The Game Development program was built in collaboration with Unity Technologies - the world's #1 most used video game engine - to focus on portfolio-building coursework and project-based learning. The Game Development program focuses on real-world lessons learned from industry partners; this new program ensures students are learning precisely the knowledge, skills, and tools that are in the highest demand for game developers in New York and across the globe.


Information Technology

Information Technology

This IT degree program was built in direct collaboration with Google. The goal is to develop graduates capable of filling important, understaffed roles in this growing field. Project-based courses teach the most sought-after skills, including web development, cloud computing, database management, information security, and more. Graduates of the Roberts IT program will be fully prepared for two industry-leading CompTIA certification exams and develop a strong resume, even before graduation.


Neuroscience

A multidisciplinary degree, the Neuroscience degree is designed to be a job-focused and innovative degree that allows students to pursue various careers. Often utilized as a premedical degree and for those interested in psychology or psychiatry, Neuroscience roles in the 21st century have expanded far beyond, with roles in tech, finance, healthcare, consumer products, government, and more. This project-based and portfolio-building curriculum is designed to help students produce a powerful resume before graduation and ensure the opportunity to stand out to hiring managers in any field.
