Social Welfare Minor

The Social Welfare minor is intended for those persons entering other professions where a basic understanding of social work skills would be an asset. These could include areas such as contemporary ministries, criminal justice, law, ministry, or teaching. The minor does not qualify for direct entrance to generalist social work practice.

The minor requires a minimum of 18 hours as follows:

  • SWK 103 and 207;
  • SWK 301 or SOC 303;
  • Courses selected from SWK 205, 206, 302, 306, or 311;
  • An elective from SOC or SWK 213, 308, or 409.
