The Spanish major consists of 33 hours of upper-level Spanish courses taught by qualified instructors, many of whom are native speakers. All upper-level classes are conducted in Spanish and include regular discussion and integrative study. Upon mastering conversation, reading, and composition, students go on to be immersed in the study of Hispanic literature – all the while continuing to improve their communication skills. Courses such as Hispanic Linguistics and Spanish for Professionals round out the offerings.
Also vital to a full understanding of Spanish language and culture is emersion within a Spanish-speaking region. Students at Roberts Wesleyan College have the option to choose the direction of their program and may study abroad in Spain or Latin America. Students are in fact strongly encouraged to incorporate a study-abroad experience into their program.
