Profile

Wendy M. Vera, a native of Ecuador, immigrated to the United States at the age of nineteen. Initially residing in New York City, she later relocated to Rochester, NY, where she now lives with her husband, son, and two cherished dogs.

Wendy recently completed her Ph.D. at the University at Buffalo. Her scholarly research delves into the representation of indigenous women in literature, spanning from colonial times to the present, with a focus on public discourse. Wendy also holds a Master’s degree in Spanish Literature and a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies.

Wendy is currently working with Northeastern Seminary on a new initiative called Familias Unidas, focused on developing new programs and Spanish-language microcredentials, https://www.nes.edu/about/grants/familas-unidas/.

Passionate about community engagement, Wendy actively contributes to her local community and her church, Light of the World Assembly of God Church. She is a Board Member at Latinas Unidas, an organization devoted to empowering and uniting Latina women in the community.
