Profile

Joshua Fugate is the Academic Operations Coordinator for the Roberts Wesleyan University Department of Music and Performing Arts, where he works as the logistical manager for academic programming, performances, administrative and financial coordination, student and faculty support, marketing, and communications.

Joshua has studied violin under multiple instructors, including Kathy Tarentelli, Dr. Pia Liptak, and An-Chi Lin, and holds a B.S in Instrumental Performance from Roberts Wesleyan University. While a student at Roberts, Joshua served as Roberts Symphony Orchestra concertmaster, Wind Ensemble president, and Roc SOLID chapel club worship director. He won the 2024-25 RWU Concerto Competition on the first movement of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. He graduated summa cum laude in 2025, receiving the Alumni Association Senior Award for his contributions to the Roberts community.

Joshua has studied composition under Matt Osika, Dr. Stephan Shewan, and Dr. Dan Barta. While a student, he had multiple of his compositions performed at Roberts, including Anima Christi, Fantasy for Clarinet, Psalm 130, Remember, My Soul, and Hadassah.

In spring of 2026, Joshua's composition Graham's Grand Adventure, composed in collaboration with The Sing Me a Story Foundation, was performed by the Roberts Symphony Orchestra with The Roberts Chorale, and later the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.

In addition to serving as the Academic Operations Coordinator, Joshua is the Roberts Symphony Orchestra librarian and Byron-Bergen Junior-High choral accompanist. Joshua is a frequent performer at weddings, funerals, and other special events, and offers both private lessons and composition commissions.
