Jessica L. Schultz is an Adjunct Professor of American Sign Language (ASL) at Roberts Wesleyan University (RWU) and Genesee Community College (GCC). She has been teaching ASL since 2019 at GCC and since 2025 at RWU, working with students in both in-person and online learning environments.
Her teaching blends ASL and Deaf culture, with a focus on real communication—how students actually use the language in everyday life. She values immersion, visual learning, and meaningful interaction, and works to create a classroom where students feel comfortable, supported, and encouraged to step outside their comfort zones to grow.
In addition to teaching, she has served since 2023 as a Student Success Assistant for the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) within the Dean of Students Office at GCC. In this role, she supports students as they navigate their academic journey and works to ensure they feel seen, supported, and not alone.
Her work reflects a strong commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and supporting students both in and beyond the classroom. She was recognized with the Inclusive Excellence Award (2025) for her contributions to accessibility, student support, and fostering a more inclusive campus environment.
Her professional interests include education, teaching, research, continuous learning, accessibility, inclusion, communication, reading, writing, sports, and engaging with film and media. She is deeply committed to community engagement—advocating for mental health, education, the elderly, families, and individuals with disabilities—while pushing for better systems, spreading awareness, and sharing knowledge to create real change, building strong and lasting connections between the Deaf and hearing communities.
