Denise M. Burgen, DNP, MBA, MS, FNP, RN

Denise M. Burgen DNP, MBA, MS, FNP, RN is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Mosaic Health and a part time faculty member at the University of Rochester's School of Nursing. She was previously the Chief Quality & Innovation Officer at UR Medicine Home Care (Visiting Nurse Service etc.) She was also previously the head of Corporate Health and Global Wellness world-wide for Bausch + Lomb, Inc. and Senior Director of Cardiovascular Services at Kaleida Health overseeing the Cardiac and Vascular Service lines across Kaleida Health’s system of hospitals and long term care centers. She is a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) who has worked in Vascular Surgery for a good portion of her career. She was Board Certified as a Fellow in the American Academy of Wound Management and has opened an operated a Diabetic Foot and Wound Care Center in her career. Dr. Burgen received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing (1985) from Keuka College in Keuka Park, New York. She also earned a Master’s of Science Degree (1993) and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (2002) from the University of Rochester. In 2012, Ms. Burgen received a Certificate in Managing Healthcare Delivery from the Harvard Business School in Boston, MA (2012). She received her Doctorate degree from the University of Rochester in 2018. Dr. Burgen teaches Healthcare Financial Management, and Health Care Research at Roberts Wesleyan College in the MHA Program as well as Bioethics and Public Policy, Medical Informatics, Process Improvement and Value in Healthcare, and a Leadership courses in the Master’s Degree Program-Leadership in Healthcare Systems at the University of Rochester’s School of Nursing.
