Full-Time Faculty Position
The Department of Teacher Education at Roberts Wesleyan University invites applications for a full-time (9-month), tenure-track faculty position to begin January 1, 2027. The Department is housed in the School of Education and Social Work on our park-like campus in Rochester, New York, providing the program with the advantages of a suburban setting within a vibrant metropolitan area.
Roberts Wesleyan University is a comprehensive, Christian university of the liberal arts, sciences, and professions serving approximately 1,750 traditional and nontraditional students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Qualifications:
Required qualifications include:
An earned doctorate (an ABD will be considered) in a relevant educational field is required for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position.
Professional teaching certification.
A record of at least five years of effective teaching at the elementary, middle, and/or secondary level.
A commitment to engage in professional development, expand knowledge in the field, integrate faith in learning, and engage in education-related scholarship.
Ability to teach a wide variety of education courses to undergraduate and graduate students in traditional and nontraditional programs, including in-person and online courses.
A commitment to supporting the mission of the Teacher Education Programs.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Specialized K-12 expertise in special education, OR expertise in literacy (i.e., reading specialist, literacy coach, reading interventionist, etc.).
Experience teaching in online or hybrid environments.
Experience in advising students.

A successful candidate will demonstrate cultural humility and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of all faculty at Roberts Wesleyan University is teaching. There is also the potential for leadership roles. Additional faculty responsibilities include serving on department and university committees, advising teacher education students, supervising student teachers, collaborating to develop new programs and community partnerships, and preparing for accreditation. Effective faculty performance will also include service, profession-related activity, and scholarship.
Department of Teacher Education:
The Department of Teacher Education is one of the largest departments at Roberts Wesleyan University, with over 300 undergraduate and graduate students. Undergraduate education majors include Childhood/Special Education, Adolescence Education, K-12 Music Education, K-12 Art Education, and K-12 Physical Education. The Department offers M.Ed. programs leading to initial certification in Childhood/Special Education and Adolescence/Special Education, and M.Ed. programs leading to professional certification in Literacy and Special Education. All graduate programs are fully online. The Department offers a non-traditional cohort-based modular program called Pathway to Teaching, which is a degree-completion program that leads to initial certification in Childhood/Special Education or Adolescence/Special Education. The approved salary range for this position is $51,000 - $57,000. Salary and rank are commensurate with education and experience.
