Join the Mental Health Advocate Team (MHAT) in this Mental Health Awareness event. This presentation will cover what we know about this leading cause of death, the most up-to-date research on prevention, and what we can do to fight suicide. Participants will learn the common risk factors for suicide, how to spot the warning signs in others, and how to keep ourselves, our loved ones, and those in our community safe.

Come enjoy an evening of jazz! Spanning the standard jazz repertoire from the American Songbook to works of contemporary jazz arrangers, the RWC Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Mike Van Allen, performs both composed and improvised music derived from the American big band tradition, African-American composers and improvisers, contemporary classical music, and the Latino and Brazilian traditions.

2019 Carolyn Bowman Theatre Symposium

“Creating Theatre” will focus on the creation and ideation of performance art, from building a business plan and originating a role to writing a show and promoting your work. The sessions are ideal for students and professionals interested in branding themselves as performers, founding a company, writing/composing shows, working for a startup organization, understanding more about how the performing arts business works, and supporting the industry in the future.

The Peacemakers | The Roberts Chorale with the Roc

The Rochester Oratorio Society collaborates with special guests, The Roberts Chorale from Roberts Wesleyan College, the Genesee Valley Children’s Choir, and the RITA collective, to present an iconic work for a new age: Karl Jenkins’s THE PEACEMAKERS, a 73-minute, multimedia, world-music masterpiece, featuring texts by the Dalai Lama, Ghandi, Terry Waits, Rumi, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Jr., and many others. Sponsored in part by the Rochester Area Community Foundation, with major support from Boosey & Hawkes. This program is funded in part by HumanitiesNY with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
