As you seek to deepen your faith in college, it's essential to have a roadmap to guide you along the way. In this article, we'll provide an easy checklist to help you narrow your options and find the school that aligns with your values, aspirations, and academic pursuits.
This checklist will help you decide in time for our deposit deadline on May 15th, 2024.
Pray for Guidance
Pray for wisdom – James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”
Talk with your parents and other trusted adults
Set Your Priorities
Determine what factors are most important to you in a university.
Consider factors like school size, majors, job outcomes, and relationships with professors
Reflect on your long-term goals and what you need from a university to make those goals happen.
Talk to Students and Professors
Schedule a campus visit to meet current students and professors.
Before your visit, write a list of questions to ask.
Good topics include campus life, financial aid, academic programs, and spiritual resources.
Reflect on your feelings about how well each college aligns with your values, interests, and aspirations. The old saying “trust your gut” refers to trusting your intuition, following your instinct, and staying true to yourself.
Gather Information:
Review the school's statement of faith to understand its core beliefs.
Explore the academic offerings, including majors, minors, concentrations, and interdisciplinary programs.
Also explore honors programs and internships.
Explore financial aid options to ensure affordability aligns with your budget.
