My advice to incoming freshmen would be to keep an open mind when it comes to activities and people. Go to any events you can and figure out what works for you. Roberts has a lot to offer.

Putting yourself out there is a good way to get involved on campus and figure out where you may belong. We have such a great community of people. Don't be afraid to make new friends!

Be open, especially if you’re living in the dorms. Being independent and away from home can definitely be a change. But remember that the people in your building, on your floor, are probably experiencing the same thing.

It’s OK to fail. I know it may be cliche, but obtaining this mindset will really help you throughout your transition from high school to college.

During my freshman year, I failed two staple classes I needed for my major. As someone with a perfectionist mindset, living with this reality was agonizing—I felt like my world was crumbling. But in hindsight, I realized this failure was just the beginning of my beautiful journey to success! Stay strong and remember to bet on yourself, it will be worth it in the end.

Put yourself out there and take on new opportunities when they present themselves. You’re only in college for so long, and it goes by so much faster than you realize. Take time to expand your comfort zone, build relationships, and enjoy the moment.
