Student Spotlight: Dan Bennett ‘24 (PsyD) Featured in Story on Mental Health Providers in Schools

Dan Bennett ‘24 (PsyD) was described by one of his professors as kind, warm, and incredibly caring. As a student, Bennett has deep respect and interest in others’ cultures, experiences, values, and points of view, helping him to develop effective relationships with his clients, supervisors, and peers. “Dan engages in critical thinking and demonstrates intellectual curiosity and flexibility that is a breath of fresh air in the field, which can hopefully foster new and innovative processes and ways of doing things,” the professor said.

Bennett is about to start his final year in the PsyD program at Roberts. He completed a year-long internship at Sodus Intermediate School in Sodus, New York, and started an internship at a healthcare organization in Pennsylvania. In his role at the school, one thing he did was help students to identify their feelings and validate them. As the son of a school psychologist, Bennett felt drawn to the mental health field. A reporter shadowed him to write a story and he was recently featured in this story which also ran in USA Today. Read the story.
